Want to join us?

So, you think you might like to join us?  Fantastic!  It probably won’t surprise you if I say most people who are thinking of becoming a member ask very similar questions. We try to answer the more obvious ones here. If you still have questions please feel free to email our secretary.

Who can join?

Anyone adult is welcome to join and come to our meetings. We don’t care what camera you use or how long you’ve been taking photographs. All we ask that you have a love of photography and wish to join a friendly, growing community of like minded people who all enjoy taking photographs.

When & Where do we meet?

We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7.00 - 8.30pm in the hall of Whitchurch Community Centre, Old Church Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff, CF14 1AD. Occasionally meetings with outside speakers may last until 9pm, and some weeks we do not meet in the hall. These are noted on the programme.

What kind of welcome can you expect?

When you first come to meetings you won’t be made to feel like an outsider. You’ll have people come over and talk to you and make you feel welcome. This is not because we've asked them to, but because they want to. We’re a friendly bunch and like to make guests feel welcome.

You won’t be pressured into deciding if you're going to join straight away and anyone who is thinking of becoming a member can visit us 3 times at no charge, before they need to make their mind up. If you do decide to join us you’ll be asked to fill in a short membership form for our records.

Your first 3 guest visits are a free trial. When you become a member you pay a joining fee, and then a weekly fee for each meeting you attend.

Our new season starts in September and we’ve got a great line-up of speakers, tutorials, demonstrations, visits & lots of amazing photographs. As well as holding weekly meetings we regularly organise trips out to local events, places of interest and destinations farther afield.

What does it cost for membership?

The annual membership runs from September every year.

The joining fee is £30 payable in September. (Part year membership is available on a pro rata basis)

We also ask for a weekly fee of £2.50 for every meeting you attend in the hall.

These fees are correct at September 2026.

Non members are welcome to attend presentations from guest speakers at a session rate of £5 each.
